Separating from girlfriend

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Maryland

My girlfrined of one month and I tried living together. she has stayed over two weekends and brought some clothes and things. We have decided it will not work and are breaking up. she states legally she has 30 days to remove her belongings from my house and is not in any hurry to get them. She also states it constitutes abandonment under state law. what are my legal responsiblilities as far as her belongings? I want to be present when she comes to pick them up.

If she was a tenant permanently living there, then she would be a month to month tenant and would have to be given proper written notice (usually one month becifre the start of the next month term) before she would have to stop living there.

However, since she presumably kept her other residence and only stayed over a couple of weekends, this does not sound like a residential tenant situation.

Do you own any trash bags? Take all of her stuff and nicely place it in the bags and then move the bags to a corner of your place. Ignore them until she picks them up in a few weeks.

Of course - its your place. She doesn't still have a key does she?
