| She wants the baby's things

My niece moved out of her mother's house after her mother became physical with her. She only took what she could carry. She went back when it was convenient for her mother so that she could get the rest of her things. Upon arrival all her things were packed for her. Once she was home and unpacking she found her mother had kept a lot of sentimental things pertaining to my niece's baby, such as; all pictures, ultra-sound pics, journals, clothing and a quilt that was made by my niece's grandmother, specifically for the baby. After moving out my niece tried to put a stay-away order against her mother but her mother threatened her with DSS so she dropped it. My niece is extremely fearful of her mother as she was abused in almost everyway by her mother her entire life. Her mother ended up calling DSS anyways. This is a long story but basically her mother wants the baby and has gone to great lengths to try to get my niece and her fiance out of the picture. Now she just wants her things back but her mother refuses. Does she have any recourse?  |
