Some good questions!! HELP!!

What is the name of your state? OHIO

I was divorced in 2001. My ex filed for bankruptcy during the divorce..We had a joint loan of $3000. When his bankruptcy became final, the loan company took me to court for the remainder of the loan. In our divorce decree it states that I would be expunged from any debt that was eliminated in his bankruptcy filing. The judge in court said my divorce decree holds no water in the case of the loan and I am paying $160/month on this loan. Can I pay off the loan, then take my ex back to court to get my $3000 back ? I was supposed to be free and clear of any debts
eliminated in the bankruptcy filling..

Also my ex is taking his companies lay-off instead of moving to another city with the company. He says he's going to go on unempoyment. How will my child-support and insurance for my son be effected, he has also just informed me that he impregnanted his live-in girlfriend. Will this change my child-support in anyway?

Also his name is still on my car. They have me as being a co-signer on my car. Can I change this and get the car in just my name? It's a lease.

1 more thing.. My ex is filing for my son every other year on his taxes, can I get this changed?

Please Advise!

If it is in your court order NO-

I think it is fare both FATHER and MOTHER get to claim child everyother year- The child belongs to BOTH you not just YOU. Be fair with him -
What makes me mad is that parents that get Child Support dont have to claim it on Taxes- So if you get a extra 2000- a year what is wrong with him wanting to get a extra little write off - everyother year.

I know for a FACT from the IRS that if it is court ordered that he claims every other year and YOU claim on his year you can loose him for ever plus pay a fine with the IRS.

Ok..Ok..

I'll agree with you on "being fair" but... My ex husband walked out on our family and left me with every utility/breach of lease & car-note etc. to pay. He at one time owed $1800.00 in
back child support until they took his tax return to pay it.
Also the $400 tax advance that was an advance on this years taxes was actually mine and I let him keep it.. and I am also paying off a $3000 "joint" loan that we BOTH signed on and he is now free and clear of after filing bankruptcy..
He is also asked me if he could claim my son this year because
he needs the money..
Am I really being that unfair? I have given him all the breaks,
believe me and I'm tired of being taken for granted and shafted
everytime he decides not to own up to his responsibilities.. I have no intention of fraudulently claiming my son on his years just to get a quick buck, and the reason why I asked if it could be changed, is because he would!
