What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Kansas

When I had my son, his dad and I weren't married. He was in basic training and couldn't be there. Our son ended up with my last name. We've decided to get married and we want our family to all have the same last name. His father isn't listed on the birth certificate. How do I change this so he's on the certificate and so that my son's last name is his father's? I'm in the process of changing his name at the courthouse. Also my son was born in Tennesse and we now live in Kansas.
