spouce wont leave unless I buy him out

Can you please tell me what I can do. My husband will not give me a divorce unless I buy him out, I do not have that kind of money, and I also have 3 young children,ages 8,6 and 2. My mother who is sick and widowed lives downstairs. I do not want to leave my home, But cant live with this man mentaly abuseing me eighter, I LIVE IN NEW YORK. Laura
