In the state of Michigan, can a step parent stop a minor
from getting their driver's license. My daughter lives
with me and her step father (my husband). He is trying to
claim that he can stop her from getting her license, How can
this be true? He has never adopted her.

My response:

It's untrue. A step-parent who has not adopted a child is powerless to do anything regarding a step-child. There are no such things as "Step-parent Rights" or laws for anything else.

If you and your daughter wanted to go today, for example, to the Department of Motor Vehicles and get her a license, you could do so without any legal interference. All it takes is the signature of one parent.
