Step Parent RightsDo I need a legal document in order for my husband to make legal decisions for my children? i.e. if they need surgery and I and their biological father are unavailable. Do we need to set up a guardianship? I want him to have the same rights I have in regard to the children. We live in Virginia. I don't want him to have to wait for me or my ex. |

| We did a simple POA (power of attorney) ourselves. So far I haven't had to make any major medical decisions, but was never questioned when registering ss for school or taking him to the doctors ect. This might be what you are looking for. KAT |
