Stuck in a Mortgage

What is the name of your state? IL

I was engaged to a women, who was the primary mortage person. I was on the mortgage, really for no other reason other then to get qualified for a high value. So we since broke it off and NOW I want off. I do not want anything, just want my name off. The difficulty is that my former fiancee (sp?) is not allowing it to be easy. Any advice how to get free and clear of this?

I'm not a lawyer or anything but in Wi. you can file a quit claim deed, check with a free legal service (maybe this one) to find out how it works. I filed one to get my name off some stupid time share and I'm trying to get my husband to sign one now to get his name off my mortgage.

Uh-Uh, no quit claim removes one from a MORTGAGE!!!!!!! it ONLY removes any ownership interest. You are very mistaken if you think that the act of quit cliaming removes one's legal financial responsiblity regarding the mortgage they entered into. ONLY the mortage lender can release you from your obligation to them.

Well, since no one else bothered asking, are you just on the mortgage or on the deed also?
