Tax issues with my childs father

What is the name of your state? NC
My son is 6 years old. He has not seen his dad in 4 years. I have not received any type of financial help from his dad in 3 years. My son has lived with me since birth and he has my last name. This year while I was trying to file my taxes both federal and state rejected his social security number saying it had already been used. I am just wondering what to do at this point. I did confront him and he claimed that he did not put my sons name on his taxes but he constantly lies so I don't believe him. There is no set visitation or custody arrangements involving my son. His father and I were never married. Please help!!

MAIL your taxes in.
The IRS will straighten it out by getting the necessary proof.
