since the teacher is denying she spit on your child, is it only your child that is claiming the teacher spit on her? Any other witnesses, ie. teacher's assistant?

I find it extremely hard to believe that a teacher spit on your child, though I concede that it is possible.

When my son went to preschool the teacher said, "If you promise not to believe everything he says about me, I'll promise not to believe everything he says about you." Kids have a unique perspective...if the teacher sprayed a bit as she spoke, that would constitute spitting for a child.

Well, actually, sometimes they do. But it doesn't necessarily have to be a lie to be different than what actually happened.

I believe anything when it comes to teachers. I had a teacher when I was in the first grade who told a student in front of the whole class that her hair smelled and she needed to sit in the back because she didn't want to smell it. I had another teacher who taped my middle finger down and made me wear the tape all day because another student lied that I had stuck up my middle finger.

In my town there was a teacher who slapped another third grader and got a slap on the wrist, 2 other teachers and a principal were fired for molesting students.I would talk to the school board and bring it to their attention and if they didn't do anything about it, I would talk to a lawyer and then a local newspaper to tell my story.

Ask to have your child moved to a different kindergarten class, this is not the way you want her school experience to start.

I'd also consider going to visit the classroom for a day to see what's going on. Of course, everyone will be on their best behavior, but they will also know you are serious about being involved in your child's school experience.

In addition to taking that action, I'm curious what's been done to change the behavior of the child. 'Cause if nothing's done about that, the child is going to have problems in any class she's in.

My response:

Why do I have this mental image of this little rug rat going around with a big, thick, green/brown, dripping hunk of mucus loogie on it's face?

I can see the teacher now, calling little Johnny from about 40 feet away, and then running at little Johnny at full tilt, and sniffling in a "big one", and then stopping about two feet away from Johnny and just "heave ho" all over the little kids' face.

What a thought!

Shall we then go back to the ideas in the good old days and require a spitoon in every saloon.
And now in every classroom.
