He has to be self supporting, have a job, live on his own (completely), no monitary help from parents, etc. AND HE has to be the one to petition the courts, not the parent. If the parent contests the motion, he will not be granted emancipated... You may want to check with a few attorney's in your area to be sure of what you can do, or can't do.
