tx - kidnapping - what to do?

texas - My son's father has gone to california for a trip with his wife and kids and my son. he was supposed to return sun nite/mon morning. it is now friday and he has not returned, nor has he called me nor his father(w/whom he lives) I'm very worried that something might have happened or that he decided to stay there. his father, when i talked to him, didn't seem worried that he hadn't called. that last time something like that happened, he was in jail and had his family lying to me & my son about where he was.
what should i do? i'm thinking of calling the police and filing a missing report. is there a way to do this effectively?
Please help.
