Use of attorney. What is the name of your state? louisiana. divorced 3 yrs ago. can my ex wife use the attorney that i had for the divorce to represent her now if we need to go back to court to settle some visitation and financial issues. if we have to go to court again i would like the same attorney that i had.. she was great. do lawyers have standards that they practice?, would this be a conflict of interest since she represented me 3 yrs ago? |

| the ABA model rules of attorney ethics would preclude your attorney from engaging in representation that would have an adverse effect on a client's interests and is in a substantially related matter. state bar associations adopt the model rules either verbatim or with few changes. however this does vary from state to state. but this would be a pretty outrageous conflict-of-interest so I am about 98% sure that you're good.

| THE attorney we're using had us sign a document stating the law firm nor him has been used for the other party in any other case(s) for the past 5 years. but as stated above different states.... different laws. |
