Validity in US of foreign marriage license

What is the name of your state? Texas
Hi - I am a U.S. Citizen who got married in India, and our official marriage registration was done in India, but not in the US.
Would our marriage license be honored in the US legal system?
If yes, would US family law (including those for adoption, divorce, inheritance etc.) apply to us
If not, what should we do to make sure we are protected under US law? Do we have to re-register for a US marriage license?

YOU ASKED - -
Would our marriage license be honored in the US legal system?

MY RESPONSE - -
Yes.

YOU ASKED - -
If yes, would US family law (including those for adoption, divorce, inheritance etc.) apply to us

MY RESPONSE - -
Yes. The laws of the State of your residence or domicile would apply. Foreign marriages are recognized by the United States as long as the marriage was entered into pursuant to the laws of the country where it was performed.

YOU ASKED - -
If not, what should we do to make sure we are protected under US law? Do we have to re-register for a US marriage license?

MY RESPONSE - -
Not applicable.
