Want to get married now!

I'm 24 my fiance is 16 and we were just wondered if we left and went to West Virgina and got married if it would be recognized in North Carolina and if her parents could do anything about it?

Even in the state of NC you MUST have parental consent to marry under the age of 18
Quote:
All applicants under 18 years of age must have parental consent. Please contact the Vital Records office at 910-341-4537 before applying.
this is from an official NC site regarding obtaining marriage licenses.
Quote:
Applicants 16 and 17 must present a consent form signed by the parent, individual, agency or institution having legal custody or serving as the legal guardian of the underage party. A certified copy of the birth certificate is also required. The consent form must be notarized.
Provided you found a way around that little "technicality" you are still facing the fact that her parents could charge you with kidnapping (even though she goes willingly with you) especially when you cross the state line!
After that is the fact that her parents could have your marriage annulled because it was an illegal marriage done w/out parental consent.
I truly don't understand why you would want to start your marriage with such issues facing you -- or why you would choose to start a marriage that would presumeably begin an entire life together in a way that will undoubtedly cause a MAJOR problem between the couple and her family.
Legally you are in NO position to marry this girl until her parents agree or she is 18**************......

It would be good if you waited until SHE is the one who is 24. She would then have experienced much more of life and would be much better at determining with whom she wants to spend the rest of her life. She'll be very sorry if she wakes up in a few years and finds herself with a family of her own before she had a chance to taste the thrill of independence.

Also, read carefully what usmcfamily told you about crossing state lines with this "child"--you could find yourself in more trouble than you can imagine.
