Were we/Are we Married? Twice? What is the name of your state? CALIFORNIA What is the name of your state? CALIFORNIA I married my Husband in Nevada - he believed his divorce had been final, didn';t have any papers yet, but in Nevada you don't need them. It turned out that his Divorce hadn't been finalised until a few days after the Nevada wedding. We married again shortly afterwards in California. I figured the Nevada wedding was never valid so would never need to be annulled. Was the California marriage ever legal? Should the Nevada wedding have been annulled? And if I were to divorce him would I have to do it twice? I knwo this sounds completely ridiculous - it's a long story. Anyway, hope someone out there can help. I've read a lot of posts where folks aren't sure they are legally married because one of them was still married - but in this case it just isn't clear to me. Thanks |

| Q: I married my Husband in Nevada.... A: No, you did not. Q: Was the California marriage ever legal? A: It was legal from the beginning. Q: Should the Nevada wedding have been annulled? A: Why? If there was anything wrong with it (and it appears there was), then it was cured when you got married. Q: And if I were to divorce him would I have to do it twice? A: Is this a trick question? |
