What's going onWhat is the name of your state? California Needed some help.. After reading those books that IAAL suggested regarding the divorce matter, nothing stated that what happened after you filed a responded. My questions are: 1 - How long does it takes to get a respond? 2 - What happen when there is no respond? 3 - Talked to the court and they said the last respond is mine. What does this mean. Your prompt answer is appreciated. Typhoon |

typhoonNot knowing your specific situation, I can only assume (and I hate doing that) that you filed for divorce, and are awaiting a response. I'll give you my advice based on that.... The person served the papers has 30 days from the date of service to "respond" to those papers. Either denying allegations, or admitting them. If, after 30 days, your STBX hasn't responded to the courts, you can file a motion to enter a default judgement to finalize your divorce. A 'no response' by the respondant (or defendant... whichever Cali uses) is seen in the eyes of the courts as agreeing to the terms of the initial filing. Has your STBX been served, and you received notice of service? If so, what date did the service take place? And I'd call the courthouse back, and ask precisely what they have in your file. Which motions are there, and if your STBX's response is in there in particular.
