Question

Who is pays medical bills?

I live in Washington State. My boyfriend got a bill from the hospital. His exwife gave his name for billing. She has medical coverage on the kids, we think she is trying to get him to pay her deductible. She claims that he has to pay 31% of medical expenses. The way I read the court papers is he pays 31% of any EXTRAORDINARY medical expenses if over $55.00 a month. Can we have this bill reversed back to her? Can she get away with this? Why should he have to pay for her whole family's deductible?
Help if anyone can????

First off, this situation is something that your BF is going to have to take care of. I'm sure you are only trying to help, and that's fine, but legally this is HIS mess.

Was the bill for services rendered to the child(ren)? Your BF needs to go to the hospital with his Court Order (a copy of it for them to keep) and speak with an Accounts Receivable representative. Tell BF to keep emotion out of it, but he needs to explain that he is only responsible for a certain percentage of expenses and that he would like to be billed for THAT percentage directly from the hospital and he will pay the hospital, in turn, directly for his portion. The hospital should be able to decipher from the Court Order what BF's obligations are.
