What is the name of your state? New York

Hi,

My friend is 73 she has been married fourty years to her husband. He has 6 kids from a first marriage and his first wife never worked.
My friend worked all her life and their marriage was childless (she has 5 kids from a first marriage).
He was in the army and then went on to work as a mechanic.
Should he pass away, under NY state law what percentage of his pension and social security benefits is she entittled to?
Also he retired before she did and so gets a share of HER benefits. Will that be transferred to his never employed first wife upon his death?

Thank you

Feicita
