Bad Tummy TuckWhat is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Georgia I had a full tummy tuck June 23, 09 with lipo. I paid 7,000.00 for this procedure. I made sure I had a good surgeon, qualified, board certified, etc..I went in for surgery came home 5 hours later and noticed when I got home some bruising on my stomach. I thought normal. Then where the bruise was starting turning black. I went to the Doctor and he said "oh no" this is not good. He said since I was not a smoker this was very rare to happen, skin Necrosis about 6 x 6 area from belly button to pubic area. He said the only thing that could have caused it was his nurses bound me to tight after surgery. He has told this to me and his nurses in the office and a friend of mine who was with me on one of the visits. Finally they cut away the black leather looking skin after it completely died and I have been walking around with a large hole in my stomach for several months, sometimes the pain is horrible, it oozes a lot and I have started wearing maternity clothes because I had to go back to work and couldn't stand the pain of clothes touching me. It seems I am going to now need another surgery and I will have a pretty bad scar from my belly button down..may even need skin grafting because it is so deep. What are my options? I want it fixed without me having to pay him anymore money, but I feel he should give me my money back that I paid for the procedure in the first place. He said at my last visit it will be 2-3 more months before I will be ok to take a bath or swim again. I just need recommendations or advise of what I need to do. Thanks |

| Take your records to a malpractice attorney for an opinion. It's possible you have no action, if this is a rare but known risk of the procedure. But if there is conclusive proof that negligent actions by the nurse who dressed the wound led directly to the necrosis, you may have an action. I don't think that's extremely likely to be the case, but only a complete review of all the records can say for sure.
