Hippa

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? NY

My daughter was seen in the ER for a hurt finger. They took x-rays and the Dr told us it was just a sprain. They put a split on it and sent us on our way . The next night almost 24 hours later they hospital called my home number looking for me , my mother answered the phone and told them that I was not home. They then asked if they could leave a message . To tell me to call an othoped . to have the finger looked at because it was broken. Now my mother is not a contact for my daughter . Is this a violation of the Hippa laws.

No; it is not a HIPAA violation to leave a message unless you have stipulated in writing that no message is to be left with anyone or on any answering device.

Take your daughter to the doctor and be thankful they called.

Good Lord! Kiddo's finger is broken and the OP is concerned that the hospital broke the law in getting the message to her? I bet she's got dollar-sign contacts!

There is no HIPPA, it is HIPAA.

Sure, the doctor calls and leaves a message at your home number that your daughter should be back because of a broken finger. I guess we should suspend the doctor for this violation, give you a gadzillion dollars for the violation and let all doctors quit practicing, then you will never have this problem again. Case solved.

First off you don't know anything about me .And its not about a MONEY thing . It a matter of principal . They make these laws and when they do they don't make them very clear . If they wrote the laws so everyday people could understand them , They would not have to ask . Second off it you don't want people to ask questions on here or question that you deem dumb then shut down the board . And third off I did take my daughter to the Dr's and her finger is doing perfectly fine Thanks for asking.

So now go have another "I shake my head" moment**************

Its not always all about the MONEY and I don't want the money .If I cant get it by working HARD for it then I don't want it.
