| | | Is this Malpractice???? I reside in the state of Minnesota. I was in a car accident a week ago. I was seen yestarday october 6th by the ER due to pain and trouble breathing . The doctor at the ER got my pain under control and then told me to go to my scheduled apointment on the 7th of october. i went to my scheduled apointment and the Dr. told me that there's nothing he can do for me . He told me I can take the whole prescription of vicodin today, a total of 16 pills and I could call the prescription in to refill tommarow. This means he told me to take 7500mg of tylenol and 60mg of hydrocodone all for one day. This is well over the daily limit of tylenol. I was told at the ER I cannot take anymore than 4000mg of tylenol in one day or it will give me liver failure or possibly kill me. He did not take my injury seriouse. He did not treat my injury even when I told him that the vicodin was not working and sent me home in Tears/ Pain. He sent me home with no medication even when the ER doctor told me to see him because he cant prescribe enough meds for me.

| | | I am not sure if this would classify as malpratice, however, I think you need to report this doctor to the director of the hospital.

| | | The total dosage of Vicodin should not exceed 8 pills a day (2 every 4 to 6 hours). What does your prescription bottle say?
You should also keep yourself well hydrated while taking Vicodin.

I'm thinking when the Doc told OP to take all of her prescription for today, he meant the 8 pills, appropriately timed/dosed.

No; an attorney isn't interested in knowing you received "bad" advice from a physician. If you had taken the 16 Vicodin and died or suffered liver failure as a result, then an attorney would be interested in investigating your/your heirs complaint.
What is the injury you sustained? It may be that there is nothing that can be done for your injury, ie.: a fractured rib located above or below the area of possible treatment with a rib belt.
If Vicodin isn't working, ask your physician for a different medication. Pain is not always receptive to a medication; changing the medication is often the answer.
