medical malpracticeWhat is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Mississippi. Sept 29, 2008 femue bypass surgery discharge Oct 1, 2008 followup with surgeon indicated an infection Oct 22 artery at the infected site tore loose lost approx 2 pints of blood before ambulance arrived. Readmitted to hospital total 20 days with 7 of those days in intensive care. Diagnosed with ARDS Adult respiratory distress infection secondary to staph infection fluid removed from lungs, 2 stents, condition was serious. Discharged with a pic lin (IV) for home...readmitted to hospital Nov 21, 2008 staph infection in IV line which migrated to my lungs..finally discharge Dec 2, 2008. Widow living alone did not realize supplemental insurance terminated for non payment...so sick did not know insurance cancelled until April 2009. Do I have a suit against the hospital? |

| Infection is a known risk of any surgery, particularly one as major as this.

| There is no obvious reason for a lawsuit. If Medicare has paid all it will pay, how much is the balance owed by the patient? It may be quite possible that the balance qualifies for a write-off by the hospital, especially if the hospital is a not-for-profit facility.
