Who should I see for an opinion after I get my old records, an Orthodontist or Prosthodontist? I had 8 tooth extractions/braces as a child from an Orhtodontist and now suffer physical and psychiatric injuries. Orthodontist did not say all available treatment methods. I have injuries now which are severe. Can I not get someone to say I suffer Psychiatric Injuries as a result of treatment? The Limitation Act 1980 says when you first suspected to have injury as a result of someone's mistake. I have only realized this all now.

Thanks for your help.

Unless your parents and the dentist gave you unneeded treatment, you could see a lawyer who is going to likely laugh after you leave.

I'll make this simple.

Can I not get someone to say I suffer Psychiatric Injuries as a result of treatment?

No. You will not get someone to say that you suffered psychiatric injuries as a result of orthodontic treatment.

Next question?

I alredy have a diagnosis of Anxiety and Depression. So if push vomes to shove I know the reason now why I have Psychiatric injuries. Who's opinion should I get to verify with my old records to prove my face has been damaged as a result of someone's mistake?

Seems that statue of limitation is over.

Seems that if you were a minor, the treatment would have been decided by parents.

That opens a terrible can of worms, and with treatment changing over time, what was very acceptable
may no longer be the first treatment of choice.

Seems there are a couple options, keep living with blaming others for what is happening, or start living by taking responsibility
for getting things corrected to your satisfaction.

How old are you now and how old were you when you received the treatment?
I was 12 now I'm 24. In UK Law says 3 years is limitation period but there are exceptions. I had just realized all this now. So in benefit of hindsight if I had known what I know now based on Science then I wouldn't have gone ahead with it. Tell me who';s opinion to get for a Lawsuit.

This site is for US law only.

You were a minor so it was your parents decision to get the treatment. Yell at them if you think it will make you feel better.

I've been told to go see a Prosthodontits who has an American degree. So me and him probably share the same values, that we dislike the UK. No only money will make me feel better, I'm gonna sue them for 8 billion, one for each teeth removed.

You do that. You won't win, but you might give the court employees a few laughs. I would suggest you find a site for UK law where they can tell you for certain that you have no case.

And you know the UK Law? There hasn't been a case where an Orthodontist has been sued in UK for this matter. But Prosthodontist and Orthodontists are bite specialists. Prosthodontists rely on scientific evidence. So if I get a Prosthodontists opinion and go to court then can I not say in benefit of hindsight if I had known what I know now based on Science I wouldn't have gone ahead with it.

It was never your choice to get the treatment or not, it was your parents choice.

No, I don't know UK law. This site is for US law only! So you can stop posting anytime. But here's a hint, if no orthodontist has EVER been sued for this reason, even unsuccessfully, in all of history, then it's probably because they can't be sued for this reason.

What reason should I sue them for then, yanking out 8 of my teeth. you shouldn't mess with nature because nature is it was intended to be jus tthatt.

UK Law says The provision of orthodontics in most countries is controlled by the Dental Councils or Boards, which are largely made up of dentists and orthodontists. The British General Dental Council is fully aware that orthodontists are not providing fully informed consent but have recently pronounced that “Failing to inform a patient of alternative treatments which, in the dentist’s opinion would not be appropriate, would not constitute a failure to obtain fully informed consent”. This allows orthodontists to withhold information about any treatment they don’t want the patients to hear about. We know of no other medical or dental specialist group that are exonerated from informing patients about methods just because they do not believe them. More detailed information is available on other pages

So should I get a prosthodontists opinion or a orthodontist, whichever makes the most sense scientifically so that in court I can say in benefit of hindsight I would not have gone ahead with the treatment or tell me parents to say that whatever. Thank you for replying.
