Retention of Lawyer

What is the name of your state (Illinois)?

What are my rights with an attorney who was retained through reimbursement on the settlement of the case, who decides to pass my case to someone else in their firm and the new person is now demanding money to persue the case?

The subject being sued recently passed away and I feel the attorney has decided it will be a bit more work and now doesn't want to persue the case with his insurance company.

What can I do?What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

Have you already used up the retainer amount?
Why shouldn't the attorney be paid for the extra costs?
What does your retainer agreement say?

What were the terms of your contract for services with the law firm?

If this were an hourly rate, then there may be nothing to be done as more time will be needed. If this were a contingency, then it should not be an issue.

But amazing, if any other business had a contract and then changed it for their betterment, you could bet the lawyers would be there to sue.
