Want to bring daughter home

I took my daughter to the hospital this morning, she has not been eating and when she does it comes back up, she is under a lot of stress, we just lost my wife ( her mother ) to cancer. The hospital did some tests and had a social worker come talk to her and then recommended Forest View Psychiatric hospital for an evaluation. We went there they had me sign some papers and then I was told my daughter would be there for 5-7 days and my daughter became histarical and I was upset, this was supposed to be an evaluation possibly overnight according to the hospital social worker, now after signing her in they say I cannot take her home. I need her home, what can I do.hat is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Michigan

It sounds like they are worried about her safety if she were to be released back home. The hospital may be the best place for her for a few days.

I doubt very seriously that your daughter could be evaluated in 24 hours. I've looked at this hospital's website; even in their FAQs, they mention at least a week stay for stabilization.

You should be able to sign the AMA papers (Against Medical Advice) and have her released, but the insurance typically will not pay for a stay that ends AMA and your daughter will still need treatment.
