Is this worth anything? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? South Carolina My husband recently lost is leg above the knee due to an infection in ( FEMORAL POPLATEAL BYPASS) in the left leg. The ( FEM POPS) in the right leg were also infected but not as bad. They also found that he had a blood clot in the left groin area due to the infection. The infection that he has is MRSA. He is now going into his 4th week at Savannah Memorial. He spen a week in ICU. The doctor that did his amputation said that when he got MRSA in January that it never went away. He also said that the doctor who did the ( FEM POP) should have checked on him then and that if he would have none of this would be going on. hilton Head Regional Medical Center never could say why the MRSA was there. Hilton Head Regional Medical Center sent him home knowing that he had a UTI. When they sent him hom he could not urinate. They told me to take him to his pain doctor and They also told me that they thought he should stay in the hospital but they were sending him home anyway. We are wanting to sue Hilton Head Regional Medical Center for neglect because they never contacted the doctor who did the fem pops to make sure they werent infected. |

| To answer your question, "Is this worth anything?". Probably not. Your husband has serious circulatory issues of a long-standing nature. As such, it will be most difficult to attribute damages solely to an act, or acts of negligence/malpractice/medical mismanagement. There may be areas of negligence/malpractice/medical mismanagement identifiable in your husband's care, including but not limited to unsafe discharge; however, it will be impossible to establish that "but for" the act(s) of negligence he would not have required an above the knee amputation. Your husband, or you, may consult with a medmal attorney. If you are your husband's legally appointed representative, you may be able to act further on his behalf. Consulting with a medmal attorney will at least give you the applicable statute of limitations that will apply should there be a valid reason to consider a lawsuit. Medmal lawsuits are extremely expensive and are an extremely lengthy and frustrating experience. If you are currently not your husband's legally appointed representative, I sincerely recommend that your husband and you take care of this matter at once; his health needs may depend on your being able to act without his knowledge and/or consent.
