X-rays from Dentist?

What is the name of your state? Michigan

This is a question from a co-worke of mine. I'm not sure if it is okay to post here, but I'm not sure where else to post it...

Can a dentist charge you to give you your x-rays of your teeth? The insurance company has already paid for them.

She needs the x-rays for when she goes to another dentist for a cosmetic procedure, and her current dentist is trying to charge her $25.00

Can they do this? Just curious!

Thanks!

The x-rays, in fact, your whole file is property of the dentist, not the patient. The insurance is just paying for the film and developing. If your co-worker wants the x-rays, she must pay for them.

re:

They are required to furnish you with your Xrays at a reasonable cost if they decide to charge it. $25 sounds very reasonable.

Mike
