Dear Pat,
I can't tell you how much I appreciated the detailed information from you the other day. I've already used and had success with one of your suggestions (to offer 20% off to someone who would pay within 20 days) and it worked. You gave me your work phone number and I've felt too sheepish to pick up the phone and call, but I will if you give me one more round of encouragement

... I am eager for more information about how collection attorneys and/or agencies work (i.e., do they actually PURCHASE a batch of debts from us or do they do it on contingency?). I get the banner ads on this site that want me to input the "stats" on the debts I am trying to collect and the site indicates that various agencies will be in touch with me to quote, but I have not filled on of the forms out completely yet (not really sure what I'd be getting myself in to if filled out one of those request for bids...).
You are doing a very good deed to offer guidance on this. All of this has inspired me to be proactive and call our own creditors frequently--letting them know ahead of time that we may drift in to the 60+ column while people are so slow to pay, etc. But I HATE it and just want to work the receivables and get all my own debts current (I know that's naive, but I can keep trying).
Best wishes,
Annette Anderson
