Just wanted to let you know that I do plan to send you that info re: Oregon laws when I get home. Interestingly, when I needed the info I couldn't find it online either. My ex and I were in a dispute as to whether or not he could leave the 6 and 8 year old kids in the car while he went into the grocery store (totally out of sight and reach -- had he just gone inside to pay at a gas station I'd have been less concerned). The manager of a grocery store told me about the 12 year age limit, and gave me a brochure on child safety distributed by local police each year. We don't have "home alone" issues yet, but the babysitting issue stuck in my head, because it had changed in the past few years. I had to take a babysitting class when I was 11, because I was the oldest of 7 kids and my folks wanted me to babysit. I can't believe they gave me so much responsibility in retrospect. Back then, the law was 11 years old to babysit if you had taken a certified course, or 13 if you hadn't. Now it's just a flat "12" with a course being recommended. Under each item on the brochure, there were references to the particular statutes that applied. I still have it in a desk at home, so I will dig it up and post. Are you in Oregon?

I do iot's just hard because he stopped right before school started and my new husband got layed off his job!! I just get tired of watching him take care of the 2 children he has with his new wife and our 3 he could care less!! It just makes me very angry!!
