    Sorry, Joshua, I just saw the Visitor Messages ... I think I replied to your subsequent posts on the original thread.

    In short, yes, I believe the judge overstepped his bounds by trying to encourage the officer to re-articulate the reason for his search. To the officer's credit, he stuck with his belief. It's wrong, but at least he was honest on that account. Only the appeal will tell whether or not the judge acted improperly.
