09S MOS - unit doesn't want to discharge me!What is the name of your state? Pennsylvania Hello all - I believe someone posted a similar problem some time ago but I don't think a resolution was ever posted. I joined the Army National Guard with an 096 MOS (Officer Candidate). In my contract it states that if I fail to complete OCS I can either complete AIT or be discharged from the Army. I voluntarily left OCS due to employer issues (much more increase in responsibility), but my unit is giving me a hard time about getting me discharged. They are threatening to AWOL me out because I haven't been to drill. They are telling me I can either fulfull my contract (start drilling again, and go to AIT) or get "AWOL'ed out". I don't want to have a "black mark" in my records for leaving the Army/getting a less than honorable discharge. Can someone tell me what my options are? ThanksWhat is the name of your state? |

| The first thing you need to address is your employment situation. As a member of the Guard you are guaranteed rights. If your employer is pressuring you you need to make it clear they cannot and if they insist you should contact the Dept. of Labor to have your claim investigated. You also have an option of pursuing your commission through the traditional program: 1 two week annual training, 14 monthly drills, and another 2 week AT at Ft. Lewis, WA or FT. Rucker, AL. This is designed specifically to alleviate situations like yours. If you want to serve there are options available to you. If you want out then work to get out but I'm not so sure your contract says what it says - it's really up to the Army to separate you or keep you as enlisted. Whatever you do, make sure you work with your unit and get out the right way or stay in the way that suits your situation - they can definitely help you. |

| I recall from Marine MECEP (similar OC program) if you failed the prep school or flunked out of college, you had to go back to the Fleet. In other words, the option belongs to the Guard. Good Luck. |
