| | | AIT Soldier AWOL What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? CO
I am currently AWOL from the US army I was in AIT for about 6-7 weeks befor going awol I have been awol since jul 14th I have made two attempts to return to my post now that things have dragged on it has only gotten worse for me.
I had went awol when I have left on emergency leave I am currently takeing care of the person that I left for in the first place.
I would perfer to get switched from Active to Reserve or NG rather than get discharged from the army compelety but unfortunally I dont have 3-6 months to wait for that considering some ones life is in my hands.
I love the army and did not leave because I couldnt handle it or I didnt want to go to war its because im trying to keep a coal on the grass from being a forest fire which it nearly has become.
Now that you know my situation id like to ask some questions.
Can I turn myself into the police / another military post and request to go to Ft.Sill to deal with PCF? Or well I just be returned to my post?
Well the fact that my MOS had a secert clearance change much?
I have gotten two tattoo's since being awol one on my form arm one on my knuckles what well this affect?
Is there a number to contact about your DFR papers?
Well the fact that I went awol at 150 days and joined at 17 help my case?
And is it true that I can return home to take care of things within a week of heading to sill?
Thanks you very much and once again I well say I love the army its a great lifestyle and I would suggest it to any one it does great things for the indiviual and the country unfortunally I am no longer mentally able to handle the duties the army demands from me.
Thank you again |

| | | Hey peligroso why don't you give information instead of saying look on the forum. Half of it is no where to be found on the forum. Some of us could use that info to determine the rest of our lives. If anyone actually has a knowlegable answer then please give it |

| | | Hey louie, maybe you should look at the sticky at the top of the page or the dozen or two dozen posts that contain the information needed.
You already made the choice that will affect the rest of your life. Your best and only option is to return immediately. |

| | | Your situation completely depends on the commander of your AIT unit. The fact that you have been gone since July will most likely mean you have been DFR'd. Once DFR'd from AIT or basic, most people are discharged at Ft. Sill. You can't request Ft. Sill, but if you turn yourself in, whoever the Sgt is at the AWOL apprehension center will send you where the Army tells him/her. If you are sent to Ft. Sill, your discharge is guaranteed. My personal experience at Sill is this: I went there on my own to turn myself in. I got there monday, paperwork started to be discharged with other than honorable, on Wednesday they got word from my command that I was wanted back at my unit although I was not currently signed into any unit. Myself and 2 other ladies were sent back. The other 2 were sent back to their AIT unit, I was sent to Ft. Bragg. For more on my story and helpful information and resources, take a look at my Thread. There are replies to my post that might be very helpful to you and with alot of information! |
