Another NG AWOL story, but a bit different

My boyfriend was in the marines from 2000-2004. Did the mediterranean tour and was in Iraq and all. After getting out he decided to finish out his 4 years inactive with the National Guard. He spoke with the recruiter in July of 2004 and filled out all the papers (contract, affilliation cash bonus, etc) and the recruiter said he would get back to him. My boyfriend didn't receive his copy of the contract until 8 months later when requested and half of the dates aren't even filled in on the DD4 Packet. He never ended up receiving a phone call back. My boyfriend constantly called his cell phone (which was the only number he had) but no return call. He thought his information was lost and decided to start taking classes at the community college to begin his education. Six months later he got a call from a guy (sorry don't know the titles) stating he was to be at weekend drill in an area that is three hours away?!?! My boyfriend at that time said he wanted out the guy said okay whatever. Mean time my boyfriend never got his money for school or bonus. To make a long story short it is now almost two years later. He has received multiple papers that one month state 40 unexcused absences then the next state 9 unexcused absences, he has requested twice to be discharged, written congressmen, etc because it interferes with school. Today he had a metting with the sargent first class and a liason guy that were trying to keep him in. The major never showed so they had to reschedule. Last anyone from the National Guard heard was that they wanted to courts martial my boyfriend. Is this just a scare tactic? If not how much time could he be facing becuase they mentioned being put in a detention center and that is only up to 18 months?
