Arrested for being awol

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? NC
I know a person, who signed up for a certain branch of the military. This person did not goto basic training. They went with the recruiter swore in, and then backed out and went back home, with the recruiter. Almost 10yrs later they have been arrested and shipped to FT knox for being awol.

What can they expect once getting to FT knox?

They will probably be processed for an admin seperation. The military could probably charge them with desertion (it certainly sounds like they meant to leave permanently), but most likely will just quietly process them out. As to the process and conditions at Ft. Knox, you can google for details (which have been posted on this group by various people who've been through it).
