| | | | AWOL 4th TIME HELP What is the name of your state? TX
ok ive gone awol 4 times now since jan 11 of this year, i left fort benning because i wanted out of the army, first time i was awol was 28 days, 2 time 33 days and i turned myself into fort sill OK, i am in the Army national Guard and still in IET Status, i was at fort sill for 7 days and fully outprocessed ready to get my leave papers in hand, i went to ACAP jag and got my 90 day Temp ID, as i was about ready to go home, i was told that i was being BTU'D because my chain of command messed up my paperwork and i was an unreported deserter, so meaning i was never dropped from rolls, they put me on a provisional pass back to fort benning and on the flight i bailed and went back to the place i was staying before, so now im awol number 3, well anyway a week and a half goes by and i turn myself in in hopes of being declared a deserter so i could be outprocessed, well anyway like an idiot i was sent back to fort benning again on another provisional pass, this time i made it back, and i AWOLED again in less than 72 hours, so now im awol for my 4th time i have been gone for another 36 days and still no DFR from USADIP, i have no warrant and no ones called, sent anything in the mail, or even attempted to come looking for me, i have had my drivers license run by the cops in a traffic stop 2x in the last week and nothing. i recieved a letter in the mail from Tricare stating i was taken off active duty on march 12 the day i went to fort sill, so i am wandering what i should do because i dont know what to do anymore! can anyone give me some advice on what the army does with national guard AWOL's at this point?

| | Sounds as if the Army has bent over back wards for you. Sadly
you cannot see this, and consequently you will be discharged
with at least an [OTH] from what you posted.

You do know that the punishment for desertion during a war is grounds for the death penalty don't you?
Although it never happens I think that if they did knock off a few then maybe you gold diggers who joined to get the free college education but don't really want to do anything to earn it would stop joining and wasting tax payer money to train you dummies.
Also be prepared to pay back any and all Pay, and bonuses you received when you joined and have gotten since you joined.

| | | acmb05, not really appropriate or advice for that matter.
to summarize though: you've been given more chances than anyone gets. you need to report to your unit if you aren't dfr. seriously though-- that's a lot of opportunity to pass up though. |

| | | | as far as pay and bonus goes, i wont have to pay anything back because i never got an Enlistment bonus and they cut my pay off when i went awol the 1st time, so no one usually gets this much opportunity eh? its been more of a burden to me personally, i didnt go awol just because i say hey" im going awol"., i left because they were goanna EPTS me and it was not going anywhere past my chain of command, i fought it and tried to stay in, but they wouldnt allow it for bipolar and ADHD. so i heard of going awol for 30-45 days and getting out quicker, still even if its OTH im not screwed, theres always an option youve just got to know where to find it. |

IET's usually get medically discharged within 30 days.
Report to your unit. See what they say. I bet you'll be out faster that way, although it will still be an OTH (on the NGB-22 instead of the DD-214).
