Awol Army Reserve!

What is the name of your state?OREGON

A good buddy of mine went through alll of his basic training and all of his AIT training and now is back home to work with his unit in portland oregon...except he hasnt gone to drill for about 1 yr now. He didnt like the way the military treated him and he felt like he was mistreated..he also lied about his enlistment about past mental history...when he was 16 he was on anti depressant because he was suicidal. He made an attempt to take care of that at fort bragg north carolina when he felt like he was getting depressed and wanted to kill himself and they still did not let him get discharged...he specifically told them about his mental condition when he was 16 and he wanted to hurt himself again, yet they still did nothing. He came home and never reported to his unit, and did not turn in his military record his 201 file. he communicated with the Unit Admin. and he told her he was not going to return and she stated that if he didnt he would get a OTH and he emailed her back saying that is fine send the papers and he hasnt heard from them since. Does anyone have any help for him in getting out of this mess, and what consequences he is facing..

and also he is currently on anti depressant medication and mood stabilizers...and not to mention he cant run anymore due to his knees and feet which all occurred during the army. please give me some advice so i can help a friend out thnx!

I hereby declare your friend a terrorist. He is not loyal to our country and glorius president. On the other hand, tell him he is stupid for going AWOL. Let him know it is VERY easy to get a medical discharge for anykind of mood disorder; they don't want to take chances having some kid going on a killing spree in Iraq with a MK-19 fully automatic grenade launcher. One of my friends got out for depression, it took him about 3 months. Also, he is in the reserves, not like active duty at all. Tell him to show up to his next drill wearing a pink dress and fishnet stockings, he would probably get out quick, with an honorable.

also if its so easy to get discharged for a mood disorder then why was he not discharged when he saw the army psychologist when he was at ft. bragg?? he pretty much just shrugged him off and told him that he wasnt going to do anything for him and if he wanted out to go beg on his knees to his 1st sergeant who reemed him a ******* and told him he wasnt going anywhere then smoked him..thnx

Being a reservice and getting out isn't hard, you just have to be creative about it, really show them why they don't want to keep you in. Get a sex change operation or something, they run about $8K in colorado

Note: I am not a lawyer, just enlisted in the army

SO I take it that YOU are your friend because I doubt anyone else would have so much info on just a "buddy" Now if you are just looking to get out because you want out then there are different ways of going about it and honestly I NEVER suggest going awol.... it can lead to nothing but trouble. BUT if you truly are a little out of it in the head, get medical records...... the army LOVES paper work, you get a civilian psychologist or psychiatrist to document your illness and turn that paper work in most likely to several different people and voila you should be out in a few months.
