AWOL Facts?

I've been awol for 9 days. Active Duty. Went on leave for a funeral on the east coast and was unable to return due to financial reasons. Was able to make it to my home of record and awaiting mid month pay to get back to Base. Spoke to Company and was informed I was going to be Chaptered. Can they with hold my mid month pay and can they chapter me this early? Still Tradoc soldier. Any advice or info would be appreciated.

Yes and yes.

Didn't you read your leave form? See the block on there about the travel assistance center? The Army would have bought you a return ticket and taken it out of your check.

Good luck on that mid-month pay. Check mypay to see if you have anything coming in (the mid-month LES is already posted). If so, count your blessings. AND CALL THE TRAVEL ASSISTANCE NUMBER!!!

I thought you needed a ticket there and back before they even let you leave?

Except in incredibly rare cases, the Army does not discharge someone who is AWOL. They have to return to military control for the discharge. So... yes, they can discharge you Chapter 10 for 9 days AWOL from TRADOC after you return, but it would be a bit unusual and a lot of times they say stuff just to mess with your mind or whatever and don't mean it. In any case, you've got to go back to deal with it.

Travel assistance was no help when I was trying to go strait back to base. I was told to visit USO and my ticket would be there...not the case. I am going back to deal with it and no not a deserter..thanks for the information.
