Awol Help

What is the name of your state?

So are they takin AWOL more serious now? or is it still "show up monday, out by friday" at fort Sill, OK. like I have been reading about in here...even if the soldier has only been in basic for 3 weeks

My previous post was:

Ok, my brother enlisted into the Army NG.. left for basic at the end of Jan07, had a family emergency the red cross was contacted and they sent him home in the middle of Febuary,(grandfather passed away)..while home he became extreemly depressed after the death, an with are second grandfather being hospitalized he became a little worse, we contacted his company and they gave him an extra week but also said he would have to start basic all over again, when he heard that he pretty much made it clear he did not want to go back, threw are family doctor he was put on anti-depression medication, well he did not return when he was supose to, they marked him AWOL, but we still keep in contact with his unit and let them know what is going on (he was marked awol about 2 months ago) recently this passed week we were informed are father has about 3 weeks left to live, are family is falling apart and he does not want to go back, nor does are family, we need him here an we know he cant go back to the lifestyle of basic training, so at this point we will pretty much do whatever it takes to get him out, some said shoot for a hardship discharge wich is kinda hard to get, medical discharge due to the depression, but thats more then likely not going to happen, and a sergeant I spoke with actually said his best bet is wait till he is droped from his rolls and is in deserter status an then term himself in to ft.Sill,Ok. an he will be out processed in about 4 or 5 days..the kid is ill..he never leaves his room , dosnt talk anymore, and I just dont see what the military would even want with him at this point, some other things I have been told, when he enlisted he had NO High School diploma, or a GED, the recuriter told him he didnt need ether and that he would take care of it, is there any way possible he can get a fraudulent enlistment seperation..or a entry level seperation??

thank your for your time and reading this and your help, please any advice will do,

if your going to tell me my brother is going to put in prison for 20 years or get the death sentance, or he is a coward an all that blah, please keep it to yourself, are family is falling apart and we really need help with this...he was only in basics for 3 weeks so dont tell him to soldier up an go back..hes no soldier..What is the name of your state?

So Sis, what do you want us to tell you that you and your Brother (by the way he should be posting-not you)
do not already know? Straightforwardly, the sooner he returns the sooner the music will play, that is military,
then it is over, and out! Try the GI Hotline at: 1-800-394-9544
