Bah

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? VA

Is it legal to collect BAH or live in military housing if you are a single mother and your child does not live with you. Also note that any money the sailor (mother is in the navy) is receiving is not being sent to help care for the child. How do I find out how to contact this sailors command because she will not give me the information?

Living in military housing and collecting BAH are two different things. Yes, if she meets her commands requirements to receive BAH then it is legal. If her child is claimed as a dependent then things get a little fuzzier. Do you know the name of the command? Have you tried Google?
