brother went awol.

What is the name of your state? m

My brother finished Basic and AIT, hes been back for 2-3 months now. He's been home ever since... he told me he hasn't reported to his unit yet because he's not sure if he wants to be in the military any more. He told me he was always homesick and thinking of the family when he was away and the only reason he made it this far was because of waivers when he was in training. He told me a few days ago he wants to just go to his unit and talk to the person in charge and see what happens but I'm not too sure he's done that.... What will happen if he does, booted out? and What will happen if he doesn't turn in himself soon...

Tell your brother to drive to Ft. Sill and turn himself in. He will not be in the military anymore and can stay home as much as he wants. The Army will kick him out, he obviously doesn't have what it takes. You and your family are enablers, you know that he is breaking the law and bilking his responsibility to fulfill his contract and you are doing nothing. The best thing to do for him would be, turning him in at the closest police or sheriffs station and telling him to come back when he is a real man. Look through the what the other awol sanjias have posted on here and it will give you an idea of what is in store for your sister and what kind of person she really is. If she doesn't have the fortitude to turn herself in then she can simply wait for her next traffic ticket/run in with the law and the NCIC database will pop her name as a deserter. Then she gets a free trip back and quite possibly some brig time. Hope it helps but she is screwed no matter what.
