Change DD 214

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? NY. I received an "under other than honorable discharge with Seperation code "JFS" and reenlistment code R-3, 3B in 1981 for going AWOL. I just looked at a copy of my DD 214 and where my signature should be, it says "Member not available to sign". I was discharged from Ft. Bragg, NC, and don't know why i was not given the opportunity to read and sign. Can I possibly get this upgradeded or changed?

Is it possible, yes. Is it probable, no. You were not available to sign because you were discharged before your packet was completed. I am sure you could have requested then to stick around two to three weeks until your DD-214 was ready.
