Coast Guard wifeWhat is the name of your state? Georgia My husband has been in the CG for 17 years. He took the Chief exam in May and scored very high and because of a clerical error by the CG. He is being told that he will have to wait until next year to get promoted to Chief. Is there anything that he can do to correct the mistake and get his promotion now? He is absolutely sick about this and they are trying to sweep this under the rug, so to speak. I'm very upset for him. Any advise would be thankful. | According to the CG Personnel Manual chapter 5.C, a waiver request can be sent to the HRSIC (Human Resource Service and Info Center) in order to deal with such issues. However, the CG, like all the services, places a great burden on the servicemember to ensure the correctness of their file during the advancement cycle. Even if someone made a clerical error, if he did not take action to correct it then he will likely be held accountable. If I understand correctly, he was supposed to verify his PDE (personal data extract) and sign a form CG-4902 for that very reason. |

| It is improper to post the name of your husband's unit on this site when asking for advice. If discovered, that will ONLY hurt him. You would do well to remove it. You might also suggest your husband speak with his Command Chief. Snipes
