deserter questionWhat is the name of your state? wisconsin I know the PCF in Fort Knox handles IET soldiers and soldiers from overseas not on deployment status, but they send any soldiers stationed in a permanent duty station within CONUS back to their duty station instead of processing them at the PCF. My friend is in the Army, active duty, not in training anymore. He went to his regular duty station, which is in Alaska. Alaska isn't within CONUS and is technically considered overseas, so would the PCF in Fort Knox process him or would they send him back to his duty station in Alaska? I ask because I think the main reason they handle non-deployed soldiers from overseas is because they don't want to deal with getting the soldier to that distant place just to process them overseas and then send them back, but Alaska is still United States. Thank you. |

| I knew someone who was stationed in Hawaii, when he went to PCT at Ft. Sill, the First Sgt recommended him for a Ch 10, but told him don't be surprised if they called him back in a month or two to return to his unit. It's a 50/50 either way. |

| As of right now, he has not been called back. It's only been a month however. Either way, he can't run forever, and the outcome will be the same. So best to just turn himself in, and get it over with. |

in reply to yilduzhave your friend contact Ft. Sill and report in. they will even arrange the transportation there if they can't afford it. getting back home is all up to you. so make sure that they have the funds to get home. worrying about it is actually harder than being there and out processing. i had to go through this myself unfortunately - the PCF at Ft. Sill were all professional. i do know there is something about timing - if you get there at the right time you're home in like 2 - 4 days. i was there like a week or something before being discharged. believe me the faster you get over with the better of they'll be. |
