DUI discharge

What is the name of your state? CO

Well here is my story I was arrested for a DUI on January 7th, 2007 and have yet to go to court for it but thats not what i'm here for. I'm here to see if anyone can tell me that if you are discharged from the Air Force under a General Honorable Conditions discharge if you may join the Army or the Army ROTC. I have not been discharged yet and am still not sure if its even going to go that far, but I am just wanting to find out more about my options for the future because I enjoy being in the military and want to stay in at least in some aspect of it.

The General Under Honorable shouldn't be too much of a problem. The real problem lies with the RE code that you receive on your dd214. You want to avoid a RE-4 if at all possible. It is extremely difficult to reenlist if you have this code, not impossible but very difficult.

I would definitely like to reenlist in another branch of service if I do end up getting discharged, but even more of what i was looking at was going into the Army ROTC program and i was wondering if their guidelines for past offenses was more stringent.

You should probably talk to a recruiter. Most folks on this forum are more familiar with military law rather than background requirements to get into a specific branch of the service.

Well I met with my squadron commander and leadership today to receive my punishment for the DUI. Because my DUI fell in the jurisdiction of the city in which I received it in the most my squadron commander could give me was a letter of reprimand and an unfavorable information file. After meeting with him I had another meeting with my group commander and he offered me an Article 15 NJP due to the fact that I violated Article 92 of the UCMJ by consuming alcohol while under the age of 21. Well I'm pretty down about all this right now and it's going to be up to my squadron commander if I am going to be discharged. If anyone has any usefull information for me on these issues its would be greatly appreciated.
