Question

Future soldier communication problems to recruiter

Hi I'm a future soldier and my ship date is November 10th 2009. I started this in Kansas now I'm in Colorado, I told them I was moving in Kansas and now I'm Colorado it has been a while since then and I haven't contacted them yet will they cancel my ship date if I'm unable to make contact?

I'm only looking for a yes or no answer but some elaboration would be appreciated.

DEP requirements

There is no specific requirement in the Army recruiting regulations USAREC Reg 601-56 and USAREC Reg 601-95 for maintaining communication before ship date with a resulting discharge for failure to do so. This does not completely rule out their doing it under some other general reason of "fitness", but given the demand for troops, that seems unlikely. If you don't show up on your ship date, they will cancel it and they are supposed to extend your DEP enrollment up to a total of 365 days, unless you request discharge.
