Why would the Army upgrade your RE Code?

You are homosexual. You agreed to living a lie in order to serve (AKA Not engage in any homosexual activities while serving). You could not maintain the necessary lifestyle, and CHOSE to get out under a Homosexual Discharge.

The only way someone gets discharged for Homosexuality is for them to bring it to their chain of command first... There is no witch hunt to yank people out of the closet.

The admission of Homosexuality precludes you from ever qualifying for Military Service, thus the RE-4. All the RE Code states is that you can't come back in, nothing more.

I agree with you about the homosexuality. But, we all know that a RE-4 is not just for the military. A smart employer that wants to see your DD214 knows that a RE-4 is a bad thing. So to say that a RE code means nothing more is really not a accurate assesment.

Uhhh... The employer would also know that an RE-4 could be issued to a Soldier who suffers from seizures, or slipped disks in his back, or reached the retention control point due to MOS overstaffing.

You are missing the point. The RE CODE 4 is for military use ONLY. You admited it yourself. It is not for civilians to consider for employing someone.

There are plenty of militia groups that will not recruit RE4's.... Lets not talk about militias, but I am sure you get the point, I hope.

My point is the RE-4 means that there is something wrong with the said named person. In other words they have been labeled with a code that is reserved for the military ONLY

re-4 and you

if you said you were gay to get out then the millitary isnt for you! you either lied or are either way you cant get in. be truthfull to yourself if you wanted to stay in you would not have told a soul. hince dont ask dont tell. the only thing you did was to create attention to your self to get out as no one wants to take a shower with someone who wantes to get bizzy with em. OF THE SAME SEX. sounds like you used dont ask dont tell as a way out! I might be wrong. sorry just my thoughts!!!!!!!!

I think 'Don't Ask Don't Tell' has gotta go... I'm sorry that the majority of the US military is Christian but maybe, JUST MAYBE, a gay soldier is just as good as a straight one?.? I dunno.. But as for what I've seen, there are plenty of homosexuals in the military, who aren't just randomly kicked out; they usually conduct their sexual lifestyle in an unprofessional manner (as does every straight male...). Good luck with the discharge, who knows... One day someone with an open mind might run the military / political office of president.
