I beg of this forum...

Please... There are plenty of AWOL/UA threads on here.

There is nothing special about your situation. You ran away because you were scared, lazy, unable to cope, had family problems, couldn't stay away from the marijuana, wife threatened to leave you, or couldn't get a medical discharge fast enough.

Please quit being lazy for once and actually SEARCH for the answer... This is not the AWOL forum. It is the Military Law forum.

Thank you.

I couldn't agree with you more, however there is a nice sticky at the top of the board posted by my good friend SHORTYLONG that tells these mishaps what to do.

Vent some place else.

Pointing out the fact that there are at least 1,000 AWOL/UA threads here is being a jerk?

All I am saying is to do a freaking search... The situation has most likely been covered in-depth.

If you want me to pass judgment, I can... I just reserve that for another time and place.

The utterly insane amounts of AWOL/UA postings are doing nothing more than wasting the time of those of us intimate with the UCMJ who volunteer our time to assist personnel with LEGITIMATE UCMJ issues... Especially when asking a question that is asked at least 20-30 times per month.

You all should be thankful there are personnel out there like myself, SHORTYLONG, Badapple40, cyberspook and others who possess the knowledge of the UCMJ and are willing to spend time here to assist with legitimate issues. You may not like the answers you hear, though, since few of us sugarcoat our responses. EX:

Q: "What will happen to me"
A: "Sorry, my crystal ball is broken"
R: "Don't be a jerk"

We are all human, however, and may interject personal opinion and feelings at times. Sometimes there is no purpose to it, other times it can help set the tone of the board for a while. In the case of this posting, it set the tone in here for a short bit... AWOL/UA thread creations have slowed for a bit, and we have a respite from wading through the hundreds of annual postings of "Help, I am AWOL and I don't want to be punished for my lawbreaking actions".

Oh, BTW: It HAS happened to me. Army happens, it's a fact of service. If you had taken 30 seconds to ask a question before your illegal departure, you would have found an answer. Money? AER. Mom sick and unable to work? DD93 as a dependent. Wife/kid with severe medical issues? EFMP.

Nearly every situation imaginable has already been presented to the Army, and most have a legitimate workaround.
