It's been over 30 days...Now what?

What is the name of your state? Alabama

Okay folks. For those of you who have been so good at giving advice, I am in need of a little bit more. It has offically been 30 days since I went AWOL from basic training at Fort Jackson back on 6/19/07. Now that it has been 30 days I have a few questions...

1. Now that is has been 30 days, do I automatically move into "deserter" status, or does that happen once I am DFR?

2. Is there a warrant for my arrest right now? Does that happen after the 30 day mark? How can I check to see what my criminal record is right now?

3. How often should I call the deserter hotline to check on my status, and is there any danger of calling that number? Do they really tell you the truth about your status or do they try to trick you?

I know...those were cobined questions so technically it was more than 3, but please try to help me out if you have any insight. Thanks so much!

Hang in there, for sooner or later you will be arrested and returned. Search
this forum you will find your questions already answered many times over.

You will also find several replies of Shortylong....well just being Shortylong. If I say much of anything else, im sure he will mark those post for abuse.

You probably are not DFR yet, as it took me almost 3 months. Call about once a week. If they say they have no packet on you, then you have no warrant. They were honest, as I think they have no reason to lie. They could care less if you want to turn yourself in or if you want to wait and take the chance and get arrested. But, once they tell you, "Yes". Call back a couple of times later in the week to be sure, during a different shift.

My son has been AWOL now 40 days and he just called to find out if they had a packet on him and the SGT. told him that he still shows him at Fort Knox in training. His commander hasn't even reported him AWOL yet.

Yea Taken83over, I sure know what you are saying about Shortylong in reporting
some post[s] for abuse! I heard he was applying for a position with the Forum
Moderator.

What a moron. Listen to this, "you abuse your post[s] here in this forum, you
will find out yourself what happens when you do!" It never ceases to amaze
me how people can not handle the truth; and must always learn the hard way
until it sinks in.
