Leave vs Deployment.

I am in the Air force and an NCO. Story is I was on a deployment tasking for a month and was taken off saying my rank was to high and they wanted airman to go in my place. After that I put in my leave. It was approved. Today a month+ later I been told I am on the list to leave in just 9 days! Sucky thing about this is I spent good money on plane tickets and I'm supposed to leave in 24 hours out of the state to visit famiy i haven't seen in 6 years. I have one wife and child. Any advise on how to take this loss? This is the second time my command has done this to me. Given me less than a week to prepare for a 6-8 month deployment. (Please no suck it up messages) I been there done that. I been deployed plenty and the tasking is not bad. It's just the way they handle it is how I am displeased.

Have you talked to the airline? They may be willing to refund the money if you're unable to use the tickets due to deployment orders. Have you talked to your OIC/NCOIC about the expenses you incurred? Probably too late to assign someone else to the tasking, but it's worth a shot if you explain how you'd be happy to go on any other date, but THIS date will cause you a financial hardship.
